Eddie Redmayne at Josephine Hart Poetry Reading last Friday
Don’t normally write on this blog, but felt impelled to commemorate my last meeting with the lovely Mr Redmayne.
I was sitting having a cup of tea around 4.30 at the Arts Theatre foyer cafe awaiting Sandra’s arrival.
Eddie walked up the stairs with Felicity Jones. I was feeling a bit sheepish like a sad stalker, but he came straight over, said how lovely to see me again (I am a stalker!!!!!) and had a chat, had some photos done. He asked me if I was watching the poetry reading and I said yes. ‘Where are you sitting?’ he asked. ‘i’m in the front row’ to which he declared ‘oh shit you’ll distract me’ and laughed.
I then uttered these immortal lines:
‘I saw you in Hick’
He said to Felicity Jones, ‘the film where I played a peadophile’
Me: ‘yes, I was strangely attracted to you in it’
He looked at me and laughed and said ‘Oh my God’
He then popped out for something to eat.
Sandra arrived just as he was coming back from his food, he embraced her and kissed her on both cheeks. Not one to be backward in coming forward, I leapt up and said excuse me I didn’t get a kiss, he laughed and said ‘but you were sitting down’, on my feet I went in for the kill and got an embrace and kisses on the cheek, being a little cheeky I moved so that his kiss landed on the left hand side of my mouth. Still reluctant to wash.
He went off to rehearse. The poetry reading was amazing he looked for us in the audience and smiled acknowledgement.
When he left the stage I did another stalkerish thing and asked the stage hand if I could have the bottle of water he drank from which was on the stage. She obliged and I am now in possession of the ‘Bottle of Redmayne’.
We met him again afterward, (see Lolasteaparty post) although I didn’t get in her group shot we did manage to get one with him as I dragged him over, he remarked that I was ‘so forceful’.
it was just the best afternoon and night ever.
Anyway back to the reality of being a wife and Mother and as Olivia said in her blog, roll on the next outing for the Les Mis premiere and redmayniac trip, it can’t come soon enough.
Thank you Eddie Redmayne for lighting up my life, always an absolute pleasure to see him perform and to meet him.
Also a huge thanks to my fellow equally obsessive redmayniac friends who I hold dear and I always enjoy our meetings.
Thanks for sharing, Chris!
